Chairs have been at the heart of the company's business since its beginnings over a century ago. In 1907, Christian Wilkening and Friedrich Hahne founded a chair factory. This was a natural choice, as Eimbeckhausen, near Hanover, was surrounded by forests that provided the necessary wood for production. The company name, Wilkhahn, was formed from the two founders' names, Wilkening and Hahne. The FS series was launched in 1980 – a milestone.
