Kay Bojesen - master of living wooden figures

Kay Bojesen (1886-1958) was a Danish silversmith and designer who became world-famous for his extraordinary ability to breathe life into wood. His iconic wooden figures - most notably the famous monkey, which was exhibited for decades in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London - are characterised by their playful design language and unmistakable character. Bojesen believed that good design should have a soul, and this philosophy is reflected in every one of his handcrafted objects. The Songbird collection epitomises this timeless design language and combines Scandinavian craftsmanship with humorous liveliness. Bojesen's work remains to this day a symbol of Danish design tradition and the art of transforming everyday objects into emotional works of art.
