GTV Design, the Viennese branch of the Thonet family, holds the licences to reproduce Thonet designer furniture based on the Thonet brothers' original designs. This is how the P29 coat stand found its way into the classic manufacturer's extensive collection.

Original bentwood design

Like many other designs by the Thonet brothers, the P29 coat stand is also made of bentwood. The solid beech wood is treated with steam until it can be bent into the desired shape.

The P29 coat stand is characterised above all by its simple design, which ensures that it fits into any living environment. It is precisely this formal simplicity that is in the context of the period in which the coat stand was created: designed in 1929, the design of the coat stand reflects the orientation of the post-war period, in which industrial modernism with a reduced design language prevailed.

Stained beech

Here you can order the P29 coat stand online in the plain black stained version. In stained versions, the natural wood structure shines through, which is not easily recognisable in the picture.
