A modern interpretation: Samurai Lounge Chair armchair from NORR11
While studying hunting chairs from the mid-20th century, designers Tommy Hyldahl and Kristian Sofus Hansen were inspired to design the Samurai Chair. The result is a modern interpretation of a low hunting chair with turned oak parts and a seat and backrest made of saddle leather or canvas.
The design of the Samuari Chair combines Japanese simplicity with elements of Danish cane chairs from the 1950s. To achieve maximum strength, the seat is fastened with brass rivets and the backrest with adjustable leather straps and brass buckles.
Design team Hansen + Hydahl
Designer Tommy Hyldahl is the founderof NORR11. He is responsible for the creative DNA of the manufacturer and his interest in the materials and production processes is evident in every single NORR11 product. Since 2015, he has been working together with Kristian Sofus Hansen, who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts . The two designers share a passion for Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian tradition, which they combine in their designs to create timeless furniture.

The frame of the Samurai chair is made of solid oak. The seat and backrest are made of leather and fabric respectively. The armchair is 66 cm wide, 83 cm deep and 75 cm high.
