The company was founded in 1930 by Wilhelm Link as a farrier's workshop in Tieringen (Baden-Württemberg). Due to the decline in horse breeding after the end of the Second World War, Link developed a new business idea together with his son Werner: Due to a lack of comfortable seating for seamstresses in the textile industry, the duo invented suitable chairs for the workers in 1961 and began manufacturing industrial work chairs. The interstuhl brand was launched in 1967. The company, which is still family-run today, is now one of the leading suppliers of industrial and office chairs and still traditionally produces in Germany. Using state-of-the-art technology, always coupled with a sustainable awareness, excellent design products with the highest quality standards are created.
