USM Haller – an unprecedented success story

Elegant design and technical perfection – a standard that USM Haller has set for itself for many years. What began in 1885 as an ironmongery and locksmith shop evolved through the collaboration of Paul Schärer and the architect Fritz Haller into a world-renowned manufacturer of high-quality steel furniture. The furnishing of the Rothschild Bank in Paris in 1969 marked the beginning of USM Haller's success story, which continues to this day. The potential of the innovative modular furniture system was quickly recognized, and it achieved global acclaim. In 2001, USM Haller furniture even became part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. What makes the system so special? The so-called USM control point, which allows for maximum flexibility thanks to multiple threaded holes and was patented in 1965. This special construction system allows the globally popular, timelessly beautiful, and exceptionally durable furniture pieces to be adapted and expanded as desired.
