The Eames Plastic Side Chair DSL RE combines Charles & Ray Eames' iconic, organic shell design with contemporary comfort and responsible material sourcing. The RE shell, made from post-consumer recycled plastic, features subtle pigment speckles that accentuate its character. The molded polyurethane foam cushion with piping provides exceptional comfort, while the visible shell edge maintains the original look. Charles & Ray Eames – Design with attitude
Charles and Ray Eames are among the most influential figures of the 20th century. Their goal – "The most of the best for the greatest number" – was realized with the Plastic Chairs introduced in 1950: a new typology in which a single seat shell, combined with various bases, masters a multitude of situations. After experimenting with plywood and aluminum, they transformed the industrially moldable, pleasantly tactile plastic shell into a mass-produced classic. Vitra manufactures the Eames designs in close collaboration with the Eames family and responsibly carries the concept into the present day using RE materials.
