J. Pérez Mateo and P. Aragay are the Spanish designer duo behind the iconic "Lauro" luminaire, which they designed for lighting manufacturer Marset in 1973 - at a time when bending steel was still a real pioneering achievement. With their design, the duo demonstrated an extraordinary flair for materiality and form: a powerful steel construction combined with a methacrylate shade that can both diffuse and direct light. Around 50 years after its creation, "Lauro" was reissued by Marset and presented to a new generation at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2025 - impressive proof that good design does not age. With their work, Pérez Mateo and Aragay are exemplary of that era of Spanish industrial design in which authenticity and innovation in craftsmanship went hand in hand.
