Joan Gaspar & Javier M. Borrás - Barcelona's masters of the play of light

Joan Gaspar, born in Barcelona in 1966, studied industrial design at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios and founded a design studio in Barcelona together with Javier M. Borrás in 2002. The duo has been working closely with Spanish lighting manufacturer Marset since the 1990s, where they are responsible for pioneering product lines such as the "Mercer" and "Ginger" families. Gaspar has been honoured with the prestigious Delta Prize several times, including in 2001 for the Atlas lighting series and in 2005 for the Neón de Luz. With their focus on clear forms and sophisticated lighting technology, Gaspar and Borrás have had a significant influence on contemporary Spanish lighting design.
