Wooden Doll Cat/Dog wooden dolls from Vitra
Not just for animal lovers - the lovingly designed cat and dog figures are the perfect decorative elements. Alexander Girard designed the Wooden Dolls in 1953 as decoration for his own house in Santa Fe. These originals can be found in the Vitra Design Museum and serve as the model for the new re-edition.
The hand-painting creates subtle variations that make each wooden figure unique and individual.
Alexander Girard
Alexander Girard is known as a formative figure in American design in the post-war period. The American was born in 1907. Girard originally studied architecture, but over the course of his career he worked as a furniture, graphic, exhibition and interior designer. Textile design was a focal point of his work. Abstract, geometric shapes and a variety of colour constellations are examples of his work.
Material and format
The Wooden Dolls are made from solid fir wood and lovingly painted by hand. They are supplied in a high-quality printed wooden box with a brochure.
