The DKW Wire Chairs are a variation of the Eames Plastic Side Chairs – also well-known is the wooden base , which combines industrial charm and homeliness.
The Wire Chairs, made of welded steel wire, take up the theme of the organically shaped and one-piece seat shell of their plastic counterparts and refine it through the expression of their transparency and their technical sophistication.
Due to the shape of its upholstery, the DKW-2 is often referred to as a "bikini" .
Charles and Ray Eames – design duo
The Eameses are among the most important figures in 20th-century design . In addition to designing furniture, they also made films, took photographs, and curated exhibitions. Vitra is the only authorized manufacturer of Eames products for Europe and the Middle East.
Material and format
The DKW2 is a chair with removable and reattached seat and back cushions , available in Hopsak fabric or leather. It measures 49 cm wide, 51 cm deep, and 85 cm high. The seat height is 43 cm. This designer chair is constructed from shaped and welded steel wire. The frame is made of maple wood with round steel bracing. The wood is sourced from Western Europe and/or Poland.
