Anna Castelli Ferrieri - A pioneer of Italian design
The Componibili was designed in 1967 by Anna Castelli Ferrieri, one of the first women to graduate in architecture in Italy. As the wife of company founder Giulio Castelli, she was Kartell's art director from 1976 to 1987 and played a decisive role in shaping the company's design language. Her approach was to renew everyday objects technologically and formally through the use of modern plastics. She was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro design prize for her design of the Componibili, which is now on display at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, and has thus created a timeless masterpiece.
