Antonio Citterio, born in 1950 in Meda, Italy, founded his first studio in 1972 and graduated in architecture from Milan Polytechnic three years later. From 1987 to 1996, he worked together with Terry Dwan on architectural projects in Europe and Japan. In 2000, Citterio founded an interdisciplinary studio together with Patricia Viel, which today operates internationally under the name "Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel".
The studio is dedicated to complex projects in the fields of architecture, interior design and graphic design, drawing on a network of highly specialised consultants. In addition to his architectural work, Citterio is also active as an industrial designer and works with renowned brands such as Vitra, B&B Italia, Flos, Hermès, Kartell, Technogym and many more.
He has received several awards for his design achievements, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1987 and 1994. From 2006 to 2016, he held a professorship at the Accademia di Architettura of the University of Italian-speaking Switzerland in Mendrisio. In 2008, he was honoured as a "Royal Designer for Industry" by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce in London.
