The name Gino Colombini is closely linked to the history and success of Kartell, as he headed the company's technical department from the 1950s onwards. His aim was to help the then still new material plastic gain social acceptance through innovative design and everyday use. Colombini designed numerous household items that were characterized by clear lines, functionality and a revolutionary colour scheme at the time. He was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro several times for his trend-setting designs. Together with the Kartell Technical Office, he laid the foundation for the brand's current design DNA, in which technical innovation and aesthetic standards merge.
