Soft variant: CH24 Soft chair by Carl Hansen & Søn.
The variant of the popular CH24 by Carl Hansen & Søn with a matte finish - as with the original, the SOFT edition also convinces with its clear and characteristic expression. The matte finish further supports the timeless and elegant look of the classic. The chair's care is also made much easier by the matte finish.
In developing the CH24, designer Hans J. Wegner conceived the backrest and armrest in one piece. The characteristic Y-shaped backrest provides stability and gives the Wishbone Chair its name. More than 100 steps are required to produce this classic chair, most of which are done by hand. For the production of the hand-woven seat alone, an experienced craftsman needs about one hour to create a seat with impressive durability and stability from approximately 120 meters of paper cord.
Designer Hans J. Wegner
One of the most creative, innovative and also prolific Danish designers, Wegner is often referred to as the master of the chair. This is because he designed more than 500 chairs during his lifetime, among which there are many masterpieces. The legendary Wishbone Chair is probably one of his most famous designs and has been in continuous production since 1950. Wegner's focus as a designer was to bring out the soul of the furniture pieces through their simplicity and functionality.
Material and format
The chair is made of matt lacquered beech wood and is available in different colors. It is 55 cm wide, 51 cm deep and 76 cm high. The seat height is 45 cm.
NOTE: Due to the high quality, handmade wicker, it may happen that one of the chair legs appears shorter, as the wicker is very strongly bound. This will regulate itself after about a month of normal sitting when the weave loosens.
