The legendary Miller House with its furnishings by designer Alexander Girard attracted particular attention. Every single item was personally selected by him. The centrepiece of the house was a sofa pit set into the floor of the living room. This was furnished with specially designed embroidered cushions. These included the Double Heart 2 cushions, which were selected by the Girard family from the designer's inexhaustible collection and reissued by Vitra.

Alexander Girard

Alexander Girard is known as a formative figure in post-war American design . The American was born in 1907. Girard originally studied architecture, but over the course of his career he worked as a furniture, graphic, exhibition and interior designer. Textile design was a focal point of his work. Abstract, geometric shapes and a variety of colour constellations are examples of his work.

Material and format

The cushion is padded with duck half down. The cover fabric is made of embroidered twill. The cushion measures 40 x 30 cm.
