Quilted landscape: Quilton 3-seater sofa from Hay

Quilton combines the visual understanding and industrial precision of the designer couple Doshi Levien. The aim of the sofa was to create a central platform for living, relaxing and socialising.

Expansive dimensions and sculptural shapes characterise the look of the sofa. The 3-seater version impresses with its high-quality fabric upholstery and ample space. The quilted upholstery exudes softness, volume and a high level of comfort.

Modular

The Quilton series from Hay not only offers prefabricated combinations, but is actually based on a multifunctional system of sofa elements, which the designers themselves call a "quilted landscape sofa system". The wide range of different modules allows users to create customised seating options with a unique look.

Technology and culture combined

The London-based design studio Doshi Levien was founded in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. The Indian-Scottish duo met while studying at the Royal College of Art. Since then, they have been creating designs together that are both technically advanced and characterised by cultural resonance .

Whether furniture, fashion or household goods - each of the two brings special skills to the projects: Doshi is primarily concerned with visual culture, an aesthetic understanding of the world and the materiality of things, while Levien focuses more on industrial precision and technology. in 2008, the designer duo was honoured with the Future Legends of Design Award. In addition to the Quilton sofa, the Uchiwa lounge chair was also created for Hay.

Hay - contemporary furniture from Denmark

Founded in 2002, the Danish manufacturer Hay pursues the goal of creating furniture that meets the needs of modern life and is accessible to the widest possible audience. The company likes to reinterpret Danish furniture classics from the 50s and 60s.

Inspired by the stable structures of architecture and the dynamic twists and turns of fashion, Hay combines the values of both sectors and creates durable and timeless quality products that combine functionality and elegance.

Material and format

The Quilton 3-seater is fully upholstered with padded PU foam and a fibretex base. You can choose between the following two fabric variants for the cover:

Hallingdal fabric: 70% virgin wool, 30% viscose
Bolgheri fabric: 100% cotton
Linara fabric: 63% cotton, 37% linen
Turf fabric: 30% polyester, 28% wool, 28% acrylic, 10% cotton, 4% other fibres
Fabric Tadao: 46% wool, 20% linen, 19% polyester, 15% cotton
Fabric Yuma: 70% wool, 30% polyester
Fabric Loft: 80% viscose, 11% polyester, 9% cotton
Vidar fabric: 94% virgin wool, 6% nylon
Fabric Mode: 80% recycled polyester, 20% polyester
Fabric Raas: 92& virgin wool (worsted), 8% nylon
Fabric Osumi: 80% cotton, 20% polyester
Fabric Volumne by Hay: 29% polyester, 25% cotton, 25% acrylic, 21% cotton
Fabric Overlap: 100% recycled polyester

The frame consists of an FSC-certified wooden construction with spring system and fleece base. The feet are made of black-stained solid oak including felt pads and have a diameter of 80 mm.

The sofa measures W 248 x D 109 x H 72 cm. The seat height is 41 cm and the seat depth is 77 cm.
